Local Outdoors news
Local salmon anglers are reporting that Chinooks are being caught in Owen Sound Bay. This is usually the time of year that returing Kings enter the bay. Anglers should concentrate on traditional summer areas such as the West Shore, from the O.S. Golf Club out to Cape Commadore. Returing chinooks tend to migrate into the sound via the west shoreline. Wind direction will dicate water temperatures but the fish are usually down between 60 and 100 feet. As the month of July moves on to August, more chinooks willl enter the bay. Hotfish spoons, Lymans and meat rigs (cutbait/anchovies and flashers) are the top producers for summertime salmon. Keep your speeds adjusted to your presentations for optimum results. 2 - 2.7mph for Hotfish spoons, 1.5 - 2.5mph for Lymans, and 2 - 3mph for meat.
The Grey Bruce Bass Club recently held events on Gould Lake and Lake Eugenia. These tournaments provided some excellent 5 fish limits of bass the 2man teams involved. The GBbass club will be running events on Arran Lake, Issacc Lake, Chesley Lake and Boat Lake in the remainder of July and August.
